Donald Trump said Iran’s military capability had been eliminated and alleged that Tehran now sought an agreement with the United States, even pleading for a deal.
Addressing a cabinet meeting, he issued a warning that if a ceasefire was not reached, the United States would carry out ruthless strikes on Iran. He added that if Iran did not abandon its nuclear ambitions, the conflict would become a nightmare for it, though an opportunity for a ceasefire still existed.
He stated that the United States had destroyed Iran’s radar systems, and claimed that the Iranian navy and air force had been completely wiped out. He further said Iran’s military strength and communications network had been dismantled, adding that without the strike, Iran could have developed nuclear weapons within two to three weeks. He maintained that Iran was now seeking a deal with Washington.
Trump also said NATO countries had offered no assistance in the war against Iran, adding that the United States did not require any help. He remarked that he had described NATO as a “paper tiger” 25 years ago.
He accused Iran of attacking Middle Eastern countries and said Tehran, under pressure from the conflict, had carried out strikes on Gulf states. He alleged that Iran had bombed Gulf countries and had planned to take control of the Middle East.
The US president further claimed that drug trafficking into the United States via sea routes had declined by 98 per cent. He said results expected within four to six weeks had been achieved earlier than anticipated in Iran, adding that the action taken now should have been carried out 47 years ago.
