The Pakistan Railways is facing significant financial losses following recent incidents of terrorism in Balochistan that have disrupted key train services.
According to the railways administration, the suspension of the Jafar Express has resulted in a daily loss of Rs12.4 million. Similarly, the halt of the Bolan Mail service is causing an additional loss of Rs1.94 million per day.
The disruptions come after terrorists destroyed a crucial railway bridge, severing the railway connection beyond Quetta. The attack has effectively isolated the region, making it impossible for trains to operate between Quetta and other parts of the country.
The railway administration is grappling with the impact of these losses while working on restoring services. The destruction of infrastructure and the ongoing threat of further attacks have created a challenging environment for railway operations in Balochistan, further compounding the difficulties faced by the already struggling railway sector.
