Aamir Khan has voiced concern about the growing influence of social media on children, warning that constant scrolling may be affecting young minds.
Speaking at an awards event in Mumbai, the actor reflected on how digital platforms are changing daily habits, including his own.
During the Lokmat Maharashtrian Of The Year 2026 event, Aamir Khan shared his thoughts on how social media is influencing people, particularly younger users.
The 60-year-old actor said the constant pull of online platforms is affecting everyone.
“This is just my view, and I may be right or wrong,” he said, adding that social media has “deeply affected all of us.”
Reflecting on his changing habits
Khan also reflected on how his own routine has changed over the years.
He recalled a time when he regularly read several books each week, even while travelling or having breakfast.
“There was a time when I used to read two or three books in just one week,” he said, explaining that reading remained part of his routine despite a busy schedule.
However, the actor admitted that his habits have shifted toward digital entertainment.
“Now I am wasting time on YouTube or watching Instagram Reels,” he said, acknowledging that he knows this change is not beneficial for him.
Concern over social media’s “Hypnotic” effect
Khan also highlighted what he described as the addictive and hypnotic nature of social media platforms.
He warned that such platforms can strongly influence users, particularly children whose brains are still developing.
According to the actor, some countries have already taken steps to restrict access to social media for users under the age of 16.
He cautioned that continuous exposure to digital content could reshape the way young minds develop.
