British High Commissioner Jane Marriott called on JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence in Islamabad.
The two held discussions on the situation in Pakistan and the wider region, as well as matters of mutual interest. During the meeting, views were exchanged on tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan and the situation arising from the United States and Israel war against Iran.
The security situation in the Gulf states in light of the Iran conflict also came under discussion. Both sides agreed on the need to enhance relations between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman called upon Britain to play a role regarding the security situation in the region. Jane Marriott said the United Kingdom remained in contact with all relevant countries and was performing a diplomatic role.
Engineer Ziaur Rehman and the British political counsellor were also present at the meeting.
