An alert has been issued for rain in various parts of the country during the next 12 to 24 hours.
Rain and snowfall over mountains are expected in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. According to the NDMA, rain is likely in Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Rawalakot, Bagh, Haveli, Kotli and Mirpur.
Rain and snowfall are expected in Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Astore, Ghizer, Diamer, Ghanche and Shigar. Rain may also occur in Islamabad and various cities of Punjab, the NDMA said.
Rain is expected in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad and Sheikhupura. Rain is also likely in Nankana Sahib, Kasur, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Sargodha and Mandi Bahauddin.
Forecasts indicate rain in Chakwal, Jhelum, Attock, Murree, Bhakkar, Khushab and Mianwali, among other cities. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain is expected in Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan and Kohat.
Rain is also likely in Hangu, Bannu, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Battagram, Kohistan, Swat and Malakand. Thunderstorms with rain and snowfall over hilly areas are expected in Shangla and Chitral.
Further rain is forecast in various districts of Sindh during the next 12 to 24 hours. Rain is expected in Hyderabad, Tharparkar, Thatta, Badin, Ghotki, Sukkur, Rohri, Khairpur and Mirpurkhas.
Intermittent rain is likely in Mithi, Umerkot, Tando Allahyar, Tando Mohammad Khan and Karachi. In Balochistan, rain is expected in Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdullah, Pishin, Barkhan and Sibi.
Strong winds and thunderstorms with rain are likely in Dera Bugti, Khuzdar, Awaran, Turbat and Gwadar. The NDMA warned that rain may cause water accumulation in low-lying areas and disrupt traffic flow.
There is also a risk of damage to weak structures due to strong winds and gusts. The NDMA has directed all provincial and district authorities to remain on alert.
