US President Donald Trump has termed NATO as “cowardly”, stating that without the United States the alliance is a “paper tiger”, and claimed that the Iran war had been won militarily.
In a statement on social media, President Trump said that following the Iran war, the level of threat against him had become significantly lower.
He said NATO members were complaining about rising oil prices but were unwilling to assist in reopening the Strait of Hormuz, which he described as a straightforward military measure.
The US president said the closure of the Strait of Hormuz remained the primary cause of increased oil prices, adding that reopening it would be an easy task with minimal risk.
