Eid-ul-Fitr is being observed across the country today with religious fervour and devotion.
Thousands of Eid congregations are being held in cities and towns, both large and small, where prayers are being offered for the unity of the Muslim Ummah and for the country’s security, progress and prosperity.
Major congregations were held at Faisal Mosque and Badshahi Mosque, along with numerous gatherings in urban and rural areas.
Strict security arrangements have been put in place nationwide. Additional police and security personnel have been deployed at sensitive locations.
Earlier, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with other national leaders, extended felicitations to the nation on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
In their messages, the leadership emphasised unity, brotherhood and selflessness, and offered prayers for the country’s peace and prosperity.
President Zardari conveyed greetings to the nation, stating that Eid marks the reward for devotion, patience and sacrifice during Ramadan. He said the message of Eid lies in piety, self-accountability and moral purity, and that it provides an opportunity to strengthen social harmony. He also offered prayers for the country’s stability and well-being.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the nation and the Muslim world, describing Eid as a manifestation of divine mercy and blessings. He said the day brings joy after perseverance and renews the spirit of sacrifice, unity and service to humanity. He referred to support measures for vulnerable groups during Ramadan and expressed sympathy for those affected in Gaza and the Middle East, adding that unity remains the nation’s strength.
National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also extended greetings, stating that Eid teaches the values of sharing happiness, love and selflessness, and provides an opportunity to celebrate with family, friends and those in need.
