Iran launched missiles at the US-UK military base on the island of Diego Garcia after the United Kingdom permitted the United States to use its military facilities.
According to news agencies, Iran fired two ballistic missiles at the island, both of which failed to hit their targets.
Earlier, the United Kingdom had allowed the United States to utilise its military bases. According to an American newspaper, the US would be able to use the British base for attacks on Iranian targets.
Meanwhile, President Trump criticised the move, stating that the United Kingdom should have acted sooner and had delayed excessively. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the British prime minister was putting the lives of his citizens at risk.
