A masked individual disrupted a football match in Germany by unplugging the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) monitor during play, officials said.
In a statement, Bundesliga 2 club Preussen Münster said the incident occurred during the first half of their match against Hertha Berlin, when a foul prompted an expected VAR review.
However, a masked fan illegally entered the pitch and unplugged the VAR monitor, preventing the referee from reviewing the incident on the field.
Despite the disruption, the penalty decision was ultimately made from the VAR room by video referee Katrin Rafalski, the club added.
Images from the match showed home supporters holding a banner reading, “Unplug the VAR,” highlighting fan frustration with the system.
