A ship carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from Oman has reached Pakistan, but technical issues have delayed its unloading at Port Qasim. Authorities say efforts are underway as additional shipments are expected.
A vessel carrying 3,800 metric tons of LPG from Oman arrived in Pakistan late on Tuesday night. According to sources, the ship reached Port Qasim and was scheduled to offload its cargo for Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC).
This shipment is part of ongoing efforts to meet the country’s energy needs.
Despite its arrival, the LPG cargo has not yet been offloaded. Sources said a malfunction in the system has prevented unloading operations, forcing the ship to remain stationed at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
Officials have not yet confirmed how long it will take to resolve the issue.
Meanwhile, authorities confirmed that another ship carrying LPG from Iraq is expected to arrive in Pakistan tomorrow. This indicates continued supply flow despite the temporary delay in offloading the current shipment.
Coal shipment also reaches Port Qasim
In a separate development, a ship carrying 52,000 metric tons of coal has already reached Port Qasim, according to a spokesperson. The arrival of multiple energy shipments highlights ongoing efforts to ensure fuel availability across the country.
Officials are closely monitoring the situation, particularly the technical fault delaying LPG discharge. Once resolved, unloading operations are expected to begin, ensuring timely supply to SSGC and consumers.
