A wave of grief swept through Karachi as political leaders and dignitaries attended the funeral prayers of Sherry Rehman’s daughter, Marvi Malik.
Condolences poured in from across the political spectrum, reflecting deep sorrow over the tragic loss.
The funeral prayers of Marvi Malik were attended by several prominent political figures, including Sindh Governor Nihal Hashmi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi.
Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad, former Senate chairman Raza Rabbani, Senator Nadeem Bhutto, and Nayyar Bukhari were also present.
Other attendees included Nadeem Afzal Chan, Senator Saleem Mandviwala, Shabbar Zaidi, Ishtiaq Baig of PML-N, Senator Shahadat Awan, Olympian Islahuddin Siddiqui, and National Assembly Deputy Speaker Ghulam Mustafa Shah.
Provincial ministers Sharjeel Inam Memon and Saeed Ghani also attended, along with Senator Waqar Mehdi, MNA Abdul Qadir Patel, and Sindh Chief Minister’s Adviser Ali Rashid.
Sindh governor expresses condolences
Sindh Governor Sindh Nihal Hashmi met Sherry Rehman and expressed heartfelt condolences on the death of her daughter.
He prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased, elevation of her ranks, and strength and patience for the bereaved family. He added that in this hour of grief, they equally share the sorrow of the family.

PPP leaders and workers visited Sherry Rehman’s residence to offer their condolences. Raza Rabbani expressed deep grief and sympathy, while Saeed Ghani and Senator Waqar Mehdi also conveyed their condolences.
Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, along with Sharjeel Inam Memon, visited the residence to offer support to the grieving family.
Funeral prayers held
The funeral prayers for the deceased were held, with a large number of political figures and community members in attendance.
Speaking at the funeral in Karachi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Kundi spoke to the media on national and regional matters.
He said that Eid holidays had ended and emphasized the need for adopting frugality. He noted that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister had already announced austerity measures and stressed that it remains to be seen how provinces and the federal government implement such policies.
Kundi stated that despite ongoing conflict in the region, Pakistan has managed to safeguard itself through an effective strategy.
He reiterated that Pakistan’s security remains the top priority and warned that action would be taken wherever information about the presence of terrorists is received.
The governor also claimed that Afghanistan had been repeatedly informed that India and Israel were using its territory against Pakistan.
Concerns over Doha Agreement and ceasefire
Kundi further alleged that the Doha Agreement was being violated. He added that a temporary ceasefire had been declared at the request of brotherly countries, highlighting ongoing diplomatic efforts in the region.
