Markets across Punjab have returned to normal operating hours following the conclusion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The government has reinstated the 10pm closing time after temporarily allowing extended business hours during the festive period.
The Punjab government has officially restored the standard closing hours for markets across the province. Shops will now close at 10pm, as per the previous schedule that was in place before Eid-ul-Fitr.
During Eid-ul-Fitr, authorities had granted special relaxation in market timings to facilitate shoppers and boost commercial activity.
Under this temporary policy, shops were allowed to remain open 24 hours a day to accommodate increased public demand during the festive season.
Relaxation withdrawn
With Eid celebrations now over, the Punjab government has withdrawn the extended timing. The earlier restriction -- requiring markets to close at 10pm -- has been re-imposed across the province.
In Lahore, markets that had benefited from relaxed working hours during Eid are now required to follow the revised schedule. All markets in the city will close at 10pm, marking a return to routine business operations.
Officials confirmed that the ban on keeping shops open beyond 10pm has been reinstated. The move is aimed at restoring regular market discipline after the temporary Eid-ul-Fitr relief.
