Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached out to Masoud Pezeshkian, the president of Iran, in a telephonic conversation marked by goodwill and concern over regional tensions.
During the call, Prime Minister Sharif extended warm greetings to the Iranian president and the brotherly people of Iran on the occasions of Eid-ul-Fitr and Nowruz.
The sentiments were warmly reciprocated by President Masoud Pezeshkian, who conveyed his best wishes to the people of Pakistan. As a neighbouring and brotherly country, the PM reaffirmed Pakistan’s full solidarity with the brave people of Iran amid ongoing hostilities.
He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives during the recent tensions and offered condolences. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and the safety of those affected and displaced.
Concern over rising Gulf tensions
Prime Minister Sharif conveyed serious concern over the dangerous and ongoing hostilities in the Gulf region. He emphasized that the current situation is grave and requires urgent collective efforts to de-escalate tensions and prevent further escalation.
Highlighting the importance of peaceful engagement, the PM underscored the urgent need for dialogue and diplomacy among neighbouring countries to resolve differences.

He stressed that de-escalation is essential to restore stability in the region and avoid further conflict.
The premier also highlighted the critical importance of unity within the Muslim Ummah, calling it the need of the hour in the face of growing regional challenges. He noted that collective strength and cooperation among Muslim countries are vital for ensuring peace and stability.
Pakistan’s commitment to peace efforts
Sharing details of Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach, Prime Minister Sharif assured the Iranian leadership that Pakistan would continue to play a constructive role in facilitating peace in the region.
He reiterated Islamabad’s commitment to promoting stability and reducing tensions through diplomatic means.
