A new weather system is set to impact large parts of Pakistan, bringing rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds over the coming days. Authorities have also issued alerts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over possible flooding and landslides.
According to the Meteorological Department, a fresh wave of westerly winds is likely to enter southern Balochistan from this evening or night. This system is expected to influence weather patterns across Sindh and other regions in the coming days.
The rain-bearing system is likely to affect different areas of Sindh from March 25 to 29. Intermittent rainfall is expected in several cities, including Karachi, during this period.
Meteorological Department Deputy Director Anjum Nazir said light rain or drizzle is likely in Karachi on March 25. He added that heavy rain is expected at some places in the city on March 26, with further rainfall likely on March 28 and 29.
Thunderstorms and strong winds are also expected to accompany the rain, with thundershowers possible at various locations.
Weather alert issued in KP
In Peshawar, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather alert as the system is expected to intensify. Thunderstorms are forecast across the province from March 25 to 30, with heavy rain and lightning predicted.

Snowfall is also expected in the upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Rain and strong winds are likely in areas including Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Kohat, Kurram, and Waziristan.
Risk of floods and landslides
Authorities have warned that heavy rains, especially from March 28 to 30, could cause flooding in rivers and canals, as well as flash floods. There is also a risk of landslides in hilly areas, prompting officials to advise tourists to avoid unnecessary travel.
District administrations, Rescue 1122, and other relevant agencies have been put on alert and are preparing to deal with any emergency situations. Officials say precautionary measures are being taken to minimize potential damage.
Weather system to impact multiple regions
The developing weather system is expected to bring varying intensities of rainfall across the country, with Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa likely to see the most significant impact.
Authorities are urging citizens to stay informed and take necessary precautions.
