The arrival of the monsoon season has brought both relief and challenges to various cities across Pakistan. The recent downpour in Lahore has made the weather pleasant, but it also disrupted the city's infrastructure.
The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) reported significant impact on its transmission system due to yesterday's rain, resulting in power outages across the city.
The rain left several feet of water accumulated in various areas, causing inconvenience to residents. However, with the entry of another monsoon spell, the weather forecast predicts cloudy skies and intermittent rain until August 4.
Senior Meteorologist Zahid Hussain confirmed that rain would continue throughout the week, bringing a mix of relief from the heat and potential logistical challenges.
On Monday morning, light drizzle was recorded in different parts of Lahore, with the current temperature at 28 degrees Celsius and expected to rise to a maximum of 34 degrees Celsius.
In Abbottabad, the weather has also turned pleasant due to intermittent rain accompanied by strong winds. The rain is expected to continue for the next two days. However, the district administration has issued alerts regarding potential flooding in canals and urged residents to stay away from urban drains and landslide-prone areas.
Gujrat and Attock also experienced heavy rainfall, with the weather turning pleasant as a result. In Islamabad, the rain has decreased the intensity of the heat, making the weather more bearable.
Meanwhile, Azad Jammu and Kashmir has been experiencing continuous rain since last night, causing the water levels in rivers and canals to rise. The weather in Muzaffarabad and surrounding areas has become pleasant, with the sky covered in clouds and more rain expected.
As the monsoon rains continue, residents in affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay informed about weather updates. The authorities are working to address the challenges posed by the heavy rainfall and ensure the safety and well-being of the public.
