Samsung appears set to increase the prices of its high-end smartphones in South Korea due to rising memory chip costs.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy S25 Edge are among the first devices affected.
Smartphone manufacturers have been grappling with a sharp rise in memory chip prices, which has forced many to adjust the costs of their devices. Previously, Samsung increased the prices of its mid-range Galaxy A56 and A36 models, which have tighter profit margins, multiple times.
Until now, high-end models like the Galaxy Z and S series were largely unaffected thanks to higher profit margins. However, the continued spike in memory chip prices has left Samsung no choice but to pass on some of the costs to consumers.
Premium devices affected
According to a report by Newsway, Samsung plans to raise the prices of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy S25 Edge in South Korea starting April 1, 2026.
- The 512GB variants of these devices are expected to increase by KRW 100,000 (≈USD 65).
- The 1TB models may see a price hike of KRW 200,000 (≈USD 130).
- Other storage variants are likely to remain at their current prices.
Possible implications
At present, there is no confirmation on whether Samsung will implement similar price increases in other countries. If global hikes occur, it could impact consumer upgrades, potentially slowing sales and affecting Samsung’s revenue and profit growth.
Consumers looking to buy premium Samsung devices in the coming months may need to act quickly before these price increases take effect.
