President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the efforts of the forefathers in creating the nation, reiterating their commitment to unity, solidarity, and progress, on the occasion of the Pakistan Day.
President Asif Ali Zardari extended his congratulations to the nation on the occasion of Pakistan Day, adding that on this day in 1940, the Muslims of the subcontinent laid the foundation for an independent homeland. Today, we honour the struggle and sacrifices of our forebears.
The president said that after the creation of Pakistan, the nation faced numerous challenges, but through hard work, capability, and mutual cooperation, difficulties were overcome. He added that Pakistan has made itself invincible by acquiring defence and nuclear capabilities, while operations against those who threaten national peace will continue.
President Zardari termed the Kashmir issue as an unfinished agenda of the partition of the subcontinent and urged the international community to ensure its resolution in accordance with United Nations resolutions, while also calling for an end to oppression against the Palestinian people.
In his message, the prime minister said that the nation, after the creation of Pakistan, displayed extraordinary resolve and transformed the country into a nuclear power. Shahbaz Sharif stated that despite challenges, Pakistan is progressing on the path of development, and the armed forces remain committed to defending the country’s sovereignty. The journey to build a strong and prosperous Pakistan will continue.
The armed forces remain determined to eliminate threats to national security, military leadership said. They are always vigilant in defending borders and protecting national sovereignty. They reaffirmed their steadfast resolve against all forms of aggression and terrorism.
Today, Pakistan stands as a responsible member of the international community, according to service chiefs. They added that the nation will continue to advance with unwavering commitment to sustainable development and prosperity.
On the 86th anniversary of Pakistan Day, the Pakistan Armed Forces and service chiefs extended their greetings to the nation. Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir conveyed his congratulations, along with Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu and Air Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf.
On March 23, 1940, the path for the creation of an independent homeland was laid, military leadership said. "This day reflects the unwavering resolve of the Pakistani people, service chiefs added. Our nation continues to progress under the banner of Islam, and Pakistan remains committed to ensuring national security, military leaders stated," the statement added.
