Pakistan Day is being observed across the country today with national enthusiasm and patriotic spirit, though celebrations have been kept modest in light of the ongoing tensions in the Middle East and a government-led austerity drive.
The day began with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital, Islamabad, and 21-gun salutes in provincial capitals. The atmosphere resonated with chants of “Allahu Akbar,” while special prayers were offered in mosques after Fajr for the country’s peace, stability, and prosperity.
Due to prevailing circumstances, the traditional Pakistan Day parade has been cancelled this year. The central flag-hoisting ceremony was held in a simple yet dignified manner.
A key highlight of the day was the guard-changing ceremony at the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal in Lahore. A smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Air Force presented an impressive march-past during the ceremony.
During the event, the Pakistan Air Force formally took over security responsibilities at the mausoleum, replacing the Punjab Rangers who had previously been assigned the duty.
The day continues to be marked with a renewed sense of unity and reflection on the country’s founding principles.
