Global crude oil prices have surged, with US crude reaching $99 per barrel and UK Brent crude climbing to $112.86 per barrel amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
In response, Pakistan has announced an increase of 200 rupees per litre in the levy on high-octane fuel. Previously, the levy on high-octane petrol stood at 105.37 rupees per litre.
The move comes as part of efforts to manage domestic fuel pricing amid international market fluctuations.
