The suspension of RLNG imports has begun to intensify the gas crisis as the shortfall in the system has widened, with the daily deficit reaching 700 million cubic feet.
Sources divulged on Saturday that at present, only 200 million cubic feet of gas is being supplied through the system.
The shortage of RLNG in the network has increased, further aggravating the situation. Domestic consumers are facing severe gas scarcity, the sources added.
Gas pressure has remained extremely low even during breakfast and meal times. In some areas, gas supply has been absent despite scheduled load management.
Households have been compelled to purchase cooked food and bread from the market owing to the shortage.
Meanwhile, the officials maintained that gas is being supplied during breakfast, lunch and dinner hours. They said the disruption is due to the halt in RLNG imports and urged consumers to use gas sparingly.
They added that gas supply to industries is continuing without interruption.
