Despite a daunting target of 215, new entrants Rawalpindi Pindiz failed to hold off Peshawar Zalmi in the third match of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Saturday.
Pindiz, having elected to bat, amassed 214 for four in their allotted 20 overs. Yasir Khan led the charge with a commanding 83 from 46 balls, striking seven fours and six sixes, while captain Mohammad Rizwan added 41.
Kamran Ghulam contributed 37 off 20 deliveries, and Daryl Mitchell made 23, as Pindiz maintained a brisk scoring rate throughout their innings.
In reply, Zalmi reached the target with five wickets in hand and five balls to spare, finishing on 218 for five in 19.1 overs.
Mohammad Haris set the tone with a fluent 47, while Babar Azam made 39. Kusal Mendis added 31 to keep the chase on course.
Michael Bracewell, named player of the match, struck an unbeaten 35 and shared a decisive late partnership with Abdul Samad, who scored a rapid 33 off 11 balls. Aamer Jamal’s unbeaten 17 ensured Zalmi crossed the line.
