Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreeke-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan once again rebuffed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)'s request to participate in the investigation concerning a controversial tweet.
The FIA team, comprising an additional director and a sub-inspector, arrived at Adiala Jail to probe Khan over the contentious issue.
Sources privy to the matter revealed that Khan made his participation in the investigation conditional upon the presence of his legal counsel.
Despite the FIA team's visit, Khan refused to entertain their questions without the accompaniment of his lawyers.
Notably, Umar Ayub, Gauhar Khan, and Raoof Hassan have already been questioned in connection with this investigation.
The central focus of the investigation remains on determining who shared the controversial video from Khan's X account, the motives behind it, and the circumstances leading to the closure of the former prime minister's X account.
The tweet
Earlier, the FIA had initiated an investigation into a controversial video shared from Imran Khan's account, which compared the current political situation to the 1971 debacle.
The video had accused the current leadership of stealing the party's mandate. The video purportedly aimed to shift the blame for the 1971 breakup of Pakistan onto General Yahya Khan, alleging severe misconduct by the Pakistani military during the conflict.
The contentious video also included imagery of current civilian and military leaders, insinuating their involvement in undermining the PTI’s mandate in recent general elections.
