Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Earth Hour offers a valuable opportunity to play a role in the protection of the planet.
Expressing his thoughts, the premier said that ongoing tensions in the Middle East have increased the importance of Earth Hour amid mounting economic pressures. In a message on the occasion of Earth Hour, the prime minister said that energy conservation is a shared responsibility and urged all Pakistanis to take part. He called on citizens to switch off unnecessary lights from 8:30pm to 9:30pm tonight.
He said that safeguarding the Earth is a collective duty in order to address environmental challenges. Environmental protection, efficient use of energy and awareness regarding climate change are essential, he added.
The prime minister said that the government is making every possible effort to reduce the economic burden on the public.
