In Bannu, armed men opened fire on a police mobile van, leaving one officer martyred and another injured.
Police said the incident took place within the limits of Huwed police station, where unidentified assailants targeted the vehicle. As a result, Assistant Sub-Inspector Mubarak Shah was martyred, while another constable sustained injuries.
Following the shooting, the attackers set the police vehicle ablaze. An intense exchange of fire ensued between the assailants and police.
A heavy contingent of security forces and police, supported by armoured vehicles, reached the scene.
