The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that heavy rains from Saturday evening until 29 March may lead to flash flooding in various districts of northern Balochistan.
According to the PMD, intense rainfall in Zhob, Musa Khel, Sibi, Kohlu, Barkhan, Naseerabad and Loralai may cause streams and nullahs to overflow. Meanwhile, in upper and central Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a risk of flash flooding in local waterways has been indicated from this evening until 30 March.
The PMD cautioned that strong winds, gusts, hailstorms and lightning may damage vulnerable infrastructure, including electricity poles, billboards and solar panels.
During the next 24 hours, rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunder is expected at various places in Islamabad, upper and central Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Rain is also likely at a few locations in north-eastern Balochistan and southern Punjab, with heavy falls and hailstorms forecast in some areas.
On Sunday, intermittent rain is expected to continue across most upper parts of the country, while parts of Sindh and southern Punjab may also receive rain with gusty winds and thunder.
