A fresh spell of rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms has affected several parts of Pakistan, bringing cooler temperatures and unsettled weather.
The Met Department has forecast more rain across major cities, including Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has also issued a snowfall alert for northern areas, and rain alert for Punjab, KP, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir.
Rain with thunderstorms is expected in various regions over the next 12 to 24 hours. The NDMA has warned of possible landslides in northern areas due to anticipated snowfall.
It has predicted rain with strong winds and thunderstorms in Karachi, with heavy showers expected in some areas. The city is likely to remain partly cloudy, while intermittent rain continues for the third consecutive day.
The minimum temperature in Karachi was recorded at 18.5°C, with maximum temperatures expected to range between 27°C and 29°C. Winds are currently blowing from the northwest at a speed of around 4km/h.
Lahore experiences heavy rain, colder weather
In Lahore, rain has intensified the cold, with showers continuing across multiple areas, including Gulberg, Jail Road, Johar Town, inner city areas, Iqbal Town, Chauburji, Muslim Town, and Shadman.
The Met Department has forecast intermittent rain throughout the day, with similar weather expected to persist for the next four days.
The minimum temperature in Lahore was recorded at 14°C, while the maximum is expected to reach around 20°C.
Cold weather has returned to Peshawar due to rain and icy winds, with temperatures dropping to 12°C. According to the Met Department, 12mm of rain was recorded in Peshawar city and 10mm in the airport area over the past 24 hours. Humidity levels reached 89%.
Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Cherat recorded the highest rainfall at 31mm, followed by Parachinar (29mm), Malam Jabba (23mm), and Dir (22mm). The lowest temperatures were recorded in Nathia Gali, Kalam, and Malam Jabba.
Rain is expected to continue in both plains and upper areas of the province, including Peshawar, until tomorrow.
Islamabad, northern regions likely to receive rain and hail
Islamabad is expected to remain partly cloudy with chances of light rain and possible hail in some areas. Most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are also likely to experience partly cloudy weather with intermittent rain.
Rain is forecast in areas, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Buner, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Bajaur, Mardan, Peshawar, Swabi, Charsadda, Nowshera, Kohat, Hangu, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and Karak.
Hailstorms may also occur at isolated locations in the province.
Rain expected across Punjab
In Punjab, rain is likely in Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Murree, Galiyat, and Sargodha.
Other districts, including Mianwali, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Khushab, Gujrat, and Gujranwala, are also expected to receive rainfall.
Lahore, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Okara, Kasur, Rajanpur, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, and Bahawalpur are also included in the forecast.
Sindh and Balochistan under rain forecast
Rain is expected in several cities of Sindh, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Dadu, Jacobabad, Naushahro Feroze, Kashmore, Larkana, Sanghar, Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Thatta, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, and Tharparkar.
In Balochistan, rainfall is forecast in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Chaghi, Nushki, Harnai, Zhob, Kalat, Mastung, Barkhan, Kohlu, Bolan, Sibi, Naseerabad, Loralai, Khuzdar, and Kech.
There is also a chance of rain in Panjgur, Awaran, Turbat, and Lasbela.
The ongoing weather system is expected to continue affecting large parts of the country, bringing intermittent rain, cooler temperatures, and occasional thunderstorms.
Authorities have advised citizens to remain cautious, especially in areas prone to heavy rainfall and strong winds.
