Russian President Vladimir Putin has assured Iran of Moscow’s continued support, describing Russia as a “loyal friend and reliable partner” during a challenging period for Tehran.
According to a Kremlin statement, in a message marking the first day of the Iranian New Year, Putin conveyed his wishes to Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian, expressing hope that the Iranian people would successfully overcome current challenges.
Separately, Russia condemned an airstrike on Iran’s Natanz Nuclear Facility in central Iran, calling it a “blatant violation of international law.”
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova, in an official statement, denounced the attack without assigning responsibility, stating that it constituted a clear breach of international legal norms.
Amid the developments, Iran said it had informed the International Atomic Energy Agency about the strike on the Natanz site.
Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization stated in local media that technical and expert assessments had been completed, confirming that no radioactive leakage had been detected and that there was no threat to nearby residential areas.
The agency had earlier also confirmed the attack on Natanz, noting in a March 3 statement that no radiation leak was recorded following strikes on the facility two days earlier.
