A widespread weather system is set to bring rain, strong winds, and even hailstorms to multiple parts of Pakistan over the coming days.
The Meteorological Department has advised citizens to take precautionary measures amid changing conditions.
The Met Department has forecast light rain and drizzle in Karachi and other parts of Sindh today and tomorrow. Rain accompanied by strong winds is expected in Karachi on March 28 and 29, increasing the intensity of the ongoing weather pattern.
There are also chances of rain in Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, and Hyderabad, with heavy rainfall possible at some locations.
Karachi weather outlook
In Karachi, March 26 is expected to bring increased cloud cover along with light rain in some areas. On March 27, the city will remain partly cloudy, with lower chances of rainfall.
The maximum temperature is likely to range between 31°C and 34°C, while the minimum temperature may remain between 23°C and 25°C. Humidity levels are expected to stay high, between 75% and 85%, contributing to a humid atmosphere.
Rain to impact Punjab, including Lahore
The Met Department has also predicted rain in Punjab, including Lahore, today and tomorrow. Despite an unusual increase in temperature, which may reach up to 31°C, rainfall is expected to bring relief and lower temperatures.
More widespread rain is forecast across Punjab from March 28 to 30, affecting multiple districts.
Islamabad and surrounding areas are expected to experience partly cloudy weather during the day. However, rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is likely in the evening, with chances of hail in some areas.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain and hailstorms are expected in several districts, including Waziristan, Dera Ismail Khan, and Khyber. Further areas such as Bajaur, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Karak, Hangu, Kohat, Peshawar, Charsadda, Swabi, Nowshera, and Mardan are also likely to experience rain and hail.
Northern, central regions to see widespread showers
Rain and hail are also forecast for northern districts, including Balakot, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram, Buner, and Malakand. Additional areas such as Kohistan, Shangla, Kalam, and Swat are expected to be affected by similar weather conditions.
In Punjab, evening rain and hail are likely in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum.
Other districts including Sargodha, Mianwali, Faisalabad, Jhang, Noorpur Thal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Pakpattan, Okara, Kasur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Kot Addu, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, and Bahawalnagar are also expected to receive rain and hail.
Rain forecast for Sindh, Balochistan
Apart from Karachi, rain may also occur in Sukkur, Khairpur, Larkana, Dadu, and Jacobabad. In Balochistan, heavy rain and hail are expected in Kharan, Khuzdar, Kech, and Panjgur.
Quetta and surrounding areas, including Ziarat, Chaman, and Zhob, may experience rain and hail at a few places.
Further rainfall and hailstorms are forecast for Barkhan, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Pishin, Harnai, Kalat, Sibi, and Mastung. Coastal areas such as Gwadar, Jiwani, Ormara, and Pasni are also likely to receive rain and hail.
