Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zedong at the Chinese Embassy in the Diplomatic Enclave on Friday.
The high-level meeting focused on anti-terrorism, regional security, and protection of Chinese nationals in Pakistan.
The discussions centered on enhancing cooperation on anti-terrorism and overall security in the region.
Minister Naqvi emphasized the need to safeguard foreign citizens, particularly Chinese nationals, who are actively investing and working in Pakistan. Both sides also reviewed the regional security situation and ways to ensure stability for economic projects.
Business conference to address investor security
As part of strengthening security measures for investors, a business conference has been proposed.
- Phase One: Meetings will be conducted with the Chinese business community already operating in Pakistan.
- Phase Two: Engagements will include Chinese businessmen interested in future investments.
The initiative aims to resolve security concerns and promote confidence among Chinese investors.
A dedicated protection unit is being formed to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens, particularly in Islamabad.
- The unit’s personnel will receive specialized training, including lessons in the Chinese language to better communicate with those they protect.
- Minister Naqvi stressed that the unit will serve as a model for protecting foreign nationals while strengthening bilateral relations.
The meeting reflects Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to secure foreign investment and maintain strong relations with China. Ambassador Jiang Zedong welcomed the steps taken and reiterated the importance of collaboration between both countries in security and economic matters.
