Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a key phone call with Chinese counterpart Wang Yi to discuss restoring peace and stability in the region.
Both sides agreed on the urgent need for diplomatic solutions and immediate de-escalation.
During the conversation, the two leaders stressed that ending tensions across the Middle East is essential.
They emphasized:
- Immediate ceasefire
- Resumption of peace talks
- Protection of civilians
- Ensuring security of sea routes
Both also underscored the importance of adhering to the United Nations Charter.
China backs Pakistan’s diplomatic role
Wang Yi appreciated Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting peace in the region.
He expressed full support for Islamabad’s initiatives, highlighting the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving conflicts.
The two leaders reaffirmed that all disputes can only be resolved through peaceful means.
They agreed to continue pursuing diplomatic engagement as the primary path forward to reduce tensions and restore stability.
Pakistan’s growing diplomatic engagement
The call comes at a time when Pakistan is actively engaging with global and regional stakeholders to ease tensions in the Middle East.
Recent reports suggest that Pakistan’s leadership—including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir—is playing a proactive role in facilitating dialogue between key players such as the United States and Iran.
An American publication recently acknowledged Pakistan’s intensified diplomatic outreach.
The report noted that Islamabad has increased high-level engagements and is working to create opportunities for dialogue among major global and regional powers.
