Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Yousuf has criticised the think tank of Hyderabad Kingsmen over the composition of the side in the ongoing 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League after the new franchise suffered a heavy defeat against three-time champions Lahore Qalandars in the opening match on Thursday.
Speaking on Samaa TV programme ‘Zor Ka Jor’, Yousuf said Saim Ayub must take responsibility within the Hyderabad side. He remarked that Marnus Labuschagne would struggle to find a place in a strong team.
He said he had enjoyed Sharjeel Khan’s batting after Saeed Anwar, adding that Sharjeel could prove beneficial for Hyderabad. Yousuf added that if Sharjeel finds form, he can turn a match into a one-sided contest.
Commenting on Lahore Qalandars, Yousuf said the squad is well balanced and that he had anticipated a one-sided match between Lahore and Hyderabad. He added that Fakhar Zaman always plays for the team rather than personal milestones.
Yousuf also praised Sikandar Raza as an outstanding all-rounder, stating that his role remains vital in Lahore’s victories. He observed that Lahore’s bowling attack is equally strong.
He criticised Hyderabad’s think tank, saying it appeared to lack clarity on how to build the team.
Meanwhile, former Pakistan off-spinner Taufeeq Ahmed said only a few players in Pakistan are capable of supporting a side. He remarked that Fakhar Zaman played in the manner required in Twenty20 cricket.
Taufeeq also raised concerns over the team kit, saying that despite significant expenditure, the colour appeared to be fading. He added that such matters should have been addressed before the match.
