The telecommunication sector in the country continues towards rapid growth, with nearly 2.2 million new cellular subscribers recorded within a month.
At the end of January this year, the number of cellular users in Pakistan stood at 202.575 million, which rose to 204.771 million in February. According to the latest figures issued by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), overall teledensity also showed an increase, rising from 82 per cent to 82.57 per cent.
Similarly, the penetration of next generation mobile services rose from 61.3 per cent to 62.3 per cent in February, reflecting wider use of mobile broadband.
A review of telecom operators shows Jazz added around 0.8 million 4G users, while Zong recorded an increase of 0.6 million subscribers.
Telenor Pakistan and Ufone also registered a notable rise in their 4G user base.
