A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight departed for London carrying passengers after a gap of six years.
A special ceremony was held at Islamabad airport to see off the passengers. The British High Commissioner and the defence secretary attended the ceremony. Passengers expressed pleasure at the resumption of direct flights to London.
The PIA flight left with 329 passengers on board. A Boeing 777 aircraft was used on the British route. Four weekly flights will operate from Pakistan to London, while three weekly flights are being operated to the British city of Manchester.
