A new vessel has berthed successfully at Gwadar Port, marking a further development in port activity.
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar said the port is emerging as a secure maritime hub amid regional tensions.
The special vessel, MV HM Leader, completed berthing operations at the port, where 35 units of transshipment cargo were handled. The minister noted that Gwadar Port is gaining prominence as a safe alternative during a period of instability affecting traditional shipping routes.
He said global shipping lines are turning towards Gwadar as a secure option, while regional tensions have disrupted established maritime corridors and increased the port’s importance.
According to Muhammad Junaid Anwar, Gwadar Port and its Free Zone have the capacity to handle 16,000 TEUs of containerised cargo. He added that the port is set to play a key role in the blue economy and regional trade.
