Pakistan has taken up the mantle of peace in an effort to dispel the clouds of war over the Middle East, as a high-level meeting of foreign ministers from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Egypt continues in Islamabad.
The federal capital has emerged as a centre of global diplomacy. In a bid to ease tensions in the Middle East, Pakistan has assumed a proactive role and is serving as a diplomatic bridge between the United States and Iran.
An important meeting of the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Egypt was held in Islamabad. The four counterparts are engaged in significant discussions, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a detailed conversation a day earlier with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. The developments point to the prospect of a major shift in the region.
As part of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts for regional peace, the foreign ministers of Egypt, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia have arrived at the Foreign Office, where they were received by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Mr Dar met Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr Badr Abdelatty and discussed bilateral relations and the regional situation.
