New leaks surrounding the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro suggest Apple could introduce one of its most noticeable design changes in years. Early images point to a significantly smaller Dynamic Island.
Fresh images of an alleged iPhone 18 Pro prototype have surfaced online, indicating that Apple may reduce the size of its Dynamic Island.
An X (formerly Twitter) user known as Early Apple shared an image showing what appears to be a smaller cutout on the display. The photo suggests a circular punch-hole under the screen, possibly marking a shift in internal component placement.
Face ID may move under display
The leaked prototype hints that Apple could relocate its Face ID components beneath the screen.
If confirmed, this would allow the Dynamic Island to shrink significantly. Earlier reports have also suggested that Face ID is likely the first component Apple plans to move under the display as part of its long-term design evolution.
However, the source behind this specific image is relatively new and lacks an established track record, meaning the leak should be treated with caution.
Screen protector leaks add credibility
Separately, known leaker Ice Universe shared images of alleged screen protectors for the iPhone 18 Pro.
These accessories show noticeably smaller cutouts, aligning with the earlier prototype image. Similar images have also been circulating across Chinese social media platforms, further strengthening the claims.
Another leaker, Majin Bu, suggested that the Dynamic Island could shrink by up to 35% compared to the iPhone 17 Pro.
The emergence of such accessories often indicates that manufacturers are confident about the upcoming design changes.
While some earlier reports cast doubt on the possibility of a smaller Dynamic Island, recent leaks appear to support the change.
Ice Universe previously claimed that the updated design may extend across the entire iPhone 18 lineup, not just the Pro models.
At the same time, leaks suggest that bezels will remain unchanged compared to the iPhone 17 series.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro models later this year, potentially alongside its first foldable iPhone.
Meanwhile, the standard iPhone 18 is likely to launch early next year, as part of a new split-cycle release strategy.
