Rising tensions in the Middle East continue to impact the energy sector, with Pakistan witnessing a sharp increase in LPG prices following earlier hikes in petroleum products.
According to a notification issued by Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the price of LPG has been increased by Rs78.28 per kilogram, setting the new rate at Rs304.12 per kg.
As a result, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder has risen by Rs924, bringing the new cost for April to Rs3,588.59. In comparison, the price for March stood at Rs2,665 per cylinder, with a per kilogram rate of Rs225.
OGRA stated that LPG prices are linked to Saudi Aramco rates and the dollar exchange rate.
Due to global market conditions, the price of a household cylinder has increased by nearly 35%, adding further pressure on consumers already facing rising energy costs.
