Preparations are under way to bring Iran and the United States to the table, as Egypt’s Foreign Minister has arrived in Pakistan.
The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Türkiye are also expected shortly. An important meeting of the four countries’ foreign ministers will be held in Islamabad tomorrow.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr Badr Abdelatty has reached Islamabad to attend the four-nation meeting. He was received upon arrival by the Additional Foreign Secretary.
Dr Abdelatty arrived at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar. His visit will span two days, during which the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Egypt will meet. He is also scheduled to call on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The four-party meeting will be chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. Matters concerning efforts to reduce regional tensions, among other issues, will come under detailed discussion.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the visit reflects the close and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Egypt. Additional Foreign Secretary Syed Ahmed Maroof received the visiting dignitary at the airport.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister will visit Islamabad from 29 to 30 March 2026. In a statement issued a day earlier, the Foreign Office said significant diplomatic activity is set to commence in Pakistan.
It added that, in view of the current situation in the Middle East, detailed consultations will take place with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Egypt on key regional and global matters.
