A new study suggests that drinking coffee in moderate amounts could help lower the risk of anxiety and depression.
Researchers at Fudan University reported that individuals who consume two to three cups of coffee daily may experience fewer mental health issues.
According to the study, caffeine in coffee can temporarily improve mood, while antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds in the beverage may positively affect key brain systems.
However, scientists cautioned that exceeding moderate limits can be harmful. Consuming five or more cups of coffee daily was linked to an increased risk of mental health problems.
The researchers emphasized that anxiety and depression result from a complex mix of factors, including psychological stress or trauma, social isolation, and genetic predisposition.
