In the US state of Florida, a man has gone viral on social media owing to his resemblance to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Reports stated that a video circulated online showing a man driving a convertible car, prompting users to identify him as Epstein. This led to the spread of various conspiracy claims suggesting that Epstein might still be alive.
The man, who identifies himself as Palm Beach Pete, later issued a clarification, stating that he is not Jeffrey Epstein but an ordinary citizen.
In a video message posted on Instagram, he said: “I am not Jeffrey Epstein, I am just myself.”
He added that Epstein was a very bad man who is dead, whereas he himself is alive.
According to him, he was taken aback when his phone began ringing continuously, after which he learnt that he had gone viral.
The footage had in fact been recorded by an unknown individual while he was driving on a highway and later shared on social media.
Users posted a range of humorous and sarcastic remarks, with one comment suggesting that he was an innocent twin brother.
Jeffrey Epstein, known for his associations with influential figures, was found dead in a New York prison in 2019. His death was officially ruled a suicide, though various conspiracy claims remain in circulation.
