Robert Pattinson has revealed that landing the iconic Batman role was far from easy. The actor shared that it took him years of effort before finally securing the part.
Speaking in a recent interview on the French show Quotidien, Pattinson opened up about his struggle to get cast as Batman.
“It was years to get it,” he said, explaining that he began meeting filmmakers even before the role officially existed.
Pattinson added that he wanted to get noticed by director Matt Reeves early on, long before the script was completed.
According to the actor, he proactively reached out to the production team.
“I don’t even think Matt was even writing it yet,” Pattinson shared. “I just met the producer and said, ‘Oh, by the way, there is a little part that no one else wants to do.’”
His persistence eventually paid off, leading to his casting as the Dark Knight.
Success of The Batman
Pattinson starred as Bruce Wayne in The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves.
The film also featured Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Colin Farrell as Penguin, and Paul Dano as the Riddler.
The movie marked a darker, more grounded take on the iconic DC superhero.
Sequel set for 2027 release
Pattinson is set to return as Batman in the upcoming sequel, The Batman Part II, which is scheduled for release on October 1, 2027.
The sequel will reunite him with returning cast members including Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis, and Jeffrey Wright.
Reports suggest that new faces may join the sequel’s cast.
These include Scarlett Johansson, Barry Keoghan, and Sebastian Stan, although official confirmations are still awaited.
