Google has begun rolling out its new AI-powered Inbox feature in Gmail, offering users a smarter way to manage emails through personalized summaries and task suggestions.
The “AI Inbox” introduces a redesigned interface that works alongside the traditional email list.
On the web version, it appears above the standard inbox in the side panel, giving users quick access to a more intelligent email overview.
Google aims to simplify how users interact with their inbox by providing personalized briefings.
Instead of opening individual emails, users can see key information upfront, along with a greeting and a timestamp showing the last refresh.
Suggested to-dos and smart organization
One of the main highlights is the “Suggested to-dos” section.
This feature surfaces actionable items such as reminders, bills, and urgent tasks, with direct links to the original emails.
Each task can be quickly marked as complete using a checkmark option.
Less urgent emails are grouped under “Topics to catch up on.”
These include categories like Events, Travel Planning, and Health & Wellness, helping users stay organized without feeling overwhelmed.
The feature is powered by Gemini 3, Google’s latest AI model.
It operates within an “engineered privacy” environment, meaning user data is processed securely and does not leave a dedicated space.
Google also emphasized that personal Workspace data is not used to train its AI models.
Availability and pricing
The AI Inbox was first introduced to Trusted Testers in January.
It is now rolling out in beta to subscribers of Google’s AI Ultra plan, priced at $249.99 per month.
Alongside AI Inbox, Google has also introduced additional AI-powered tools.
These include AI Overviews in search and a Proofread feature for advanced grammar, tone, and style improvements.
