Director General Political at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Ed Llewellyn CVO OBE, visited Islamabad for a series of high-level engagements aimed at strengthening UK-Pakistan ties.
During his visit, Llewellyn reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region. He praised Pakistan’s efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East and reiterated the UK’s call for a cessation of attacks on civilian infrastructure.
Recognising the ongoing threat of terrorism, he acknowledged the sacrifices of Pakistan’s law enforcement and security forces and emphasized that the UK stands “shoulder-to-shoulder” with Pakistan in combating terrorism. He highlighted the importance of deepening cooperation to tackle shared security challenges.
In addition to security, Llewellyn underlined the UK’s support for Pakistan’s long-term economic growth, stressing continued collaboration on climate resilience, development initiatives, and people-to-people connections.
Commenting on the visit, Ed Llewellyn said: “This visit highlights the strength and depth of the UK–Pakistan relationship at a time of global instability. Our partnership is rooted in shared interests, and continued dialogue is essential as we work together to support regional stability and tackle joint security challenges.”
The visit marks a continued effort to strengthen diplomatic, security, and economic ties between the two nations.
