Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) stalwart Murad Saeed has been disqualified under Article 63(1)(h), according to a notification issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
According to details surfaced on Thursday, the electoral watchdog declared his Senate seat vacant following the disqualification. The decision was issued on the basis of a court conviction.
An anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi had sentenced Murad Saeed to 10 years’ imprisonment. He was convicted on March 7 in a case registered at RA Bazaar police station.
Murad Saeed had been elected Senator from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on a PTI ticket.
