Varun Dhawan opened up during a conversation with Nikhil Taneja on his YouTube talk show Be A Man, Yaar!.
The actor shared details about his daughter Lara’s condition, offering a glimpse into a deeply personal chapter of his life.
Dhawan revealed that his daughter was diagnosed with Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH) when she was just one year old.
He explained that the condition causes the hip to slip out of its socket, which can lead to uneven leg length and difficulty in walking.
The actor further elaborated on the long-term impact of DDH.
He noted that it can lead to early arthritis and spinal issues such as slipped discs, highlighting the seriousness of the condition if not treated properly.
Treatment challenges in India
Dhawan pointed out that while the condition is treated effectively from birth in Western countries, access to such advanced care is still limited in parts of India.
His remarks shed light on broader healthcare gaps, especially for early diagnosis and treatment.
Despite the diagnosis, Dhawan shared a hopeful update.
He clarified that his daughter has not undergone surgery and is currently being treated through therapy to manage the condition.
