Iran’s military has strongly denied recent claims by Donald Trump that Tehran is seeking a settlement with Washington.
The statement comes amid heightened tensions following weeks of U.S. and Israeli military operations.
Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaghari of the Khatam Al-Anbiya central headquarters addressed the U.S. in a statement carried by the Fars News Agency.
He mocked the idea of negotiations, asking: “Has the level of your internal conflicts reached the state of negotiating with yourselves?”
Zolfaghari added, “Don’t call your failure an agreement,” emphasizing that Iran’s conditions remain non-negotiable.
The spokesperson reaffirmed Iran’s stance on oil and military matters, stating there would be no return to previous oil prices or the prior geopolitical order “until our will is done.”
He continued: “This will be created when the thought of taking action against the Iranian nation is completely erased from your dirty minds.”
“Our first and last words from day one have been, are and will be: No one like us will get along with someone like you. Not now, not ever,” Zolfaghari said.
Trump signals possible settlement
Earlier, Donald Trump had indicated a potential deal, claiming Tehran offered a “very significant prize” tied to oil and gas.
Speaking from the Oval Office, he said Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were negotiating with “the right people” in Iran.
Trump claimed Iran wanted a settlement after weeks of conflict with the U.S. and Israel, saying that Iranian naval and air capabilities had been degraded.
Claims not verified by Tehran
Iran has not publicly confirmed Trump’s statements. Some Iranian officials have indicated that proposals were received through intermediaries and are under review.
Trump also asserted that Iran had agreed to forgo nuclear weapons and described the country as “engaging sensibly.” He cited U.S. control over Iranian airspace and the elimination of key military assets.
The president’s remarks represented a shift from last week, when he opposed a ceasefire. He also noted recent missile attacks on the UAE, claiming hundreds of missiles had been launched.
Despite Trump’s optimism, Tehran’s military statement underscores its firm refusal to yield under current U.S. pressure.
